Summer Rain

Summer Rain

We have had around 4 inches of rain in the last 4 to 5 weeks, mostly monsoonal moisture from the north. After a dry winter it is wonderful to the trees, bushes and shrubs looking so green and happy. Not much germinates with summer rain though, apart from some ferals like onion weed which loves summer rain, some vines and one or two others which provide some feed at least.

Hello from Germany,

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at Rawnsley Park mid-November 2008. It was a very enjoyable visit. The bird life was fantastic. We sat in front of our cabin, and saw galahs, ring-necked parrots, noisy miners, and other birds I don’t know the name of.

Compared with our first visit to the Flinders in September 2001, we thought it was very dry this time. So it is good to hear you got some rain.

Merry Christmas to everyone, and thanks for the friendly service.

Cheers, Rita

Thanks Rita, we had a good Christmas, hope you did too.

The rain has gone now and we are into a week of 40+ degrees C. The creeks and springs are drying out but the trees and bushes are still healthy from the recent rains.

We could receive some monsoon rains from up north soon, here’s hoping.

We look forward to seeing you next time.

best wishes, Tim.
