ART CLASSES WITH GILBERT DASHORST

PRIVATE TUITION
The private tuition will be for 8 hours over one or two day (your choice), with a minimum of two
people in the class. The cost is $600 per person, with a minimum of two people. You will have a
completed piece of art to take home as a stunning reminder of your Rawnsley Park experience.
GROUP CLASSES
For a group class of 6 – 10 people, the fee is $200 per person for a four hour class, or $350 for
two x four hour classes.
In both group and private classes you may choose scientific illustration (detailed botanical art),
drawing or landscapes in the medium of your choice. (excluding oils)
WHEN: 28-29 August, 11-12 September, 23-24 October 2010. Other weekends and mid week by
prior arrangement.
INCLUSIONS: All materials and equipment supplied – paints, brushes, easels, canvas, paper.
EXCLUSIONS: Accommodation & Meals may be booked with Rawnsley Park Station. Own
transport to Rawnsley Park required.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Gilbert Dashorst graduated from the North Adelaide School of Art in 1980 before travelling to
Europe as a freelance illustrator for two and a half years. Returning to Adelaide in 1983, he
started as the botanical illustrator for the Botanical Gardens of Adelaide and the State
Herbarium, illustrating plant material for scientific publications world-wide; a position he still
holds today.
In 1988, a Churchill Fellowship enabled Gilbert to spend 5 months working with botanists and
botanical artists in Leiden (the Netherlands) and one month at Kew (England) enhancing his
botanical illustration skills and research into Australian botanical artists.
In 1990, Gilbert produced the book “Plants of the Adelaide Plains and Hills”, which is now in its.
third edition. In 2000, Gilbert held his first successful solo exhibition during the Adelaide Festival
and Fringe titled „All in a Day.s Work., at Urrbrae House.
Gilbert.s work is held in many overseas private collections.
